Circulation Policies
Library Cards
Faculty, staff, and students use their Pacific Union College ID card to borrow and renew library material.
Community members may apply for a library card at the front desk. A community card costs $20.00 a year, with some exceptions.
Depending on the type of library card you have, you may have certain privileges or restrictions.
You are responsible for any transactions made on your ID or library card.
Loans
The types of material loaned and how long you can borrow it varies from one collection to another. You are responsible for knowing when materials are due.
To borrow a laptop you must be a current PUC student or employee and sign a Laptop Agreement form. Laptops are only lent out for 2 days and are non-renewable due to our extreme limited supply. If we do have one in stock when you return your laptop, we will allow you to check out a different laptop
Renewals
If another patron has not requested the material loaned to you, most items may be renewed one time. You may request a renewal in person at the front desk, by calling the library at 965-6241, or by using My Account on the library website.
Items that cannot be renewed include reserves and media materials borrowed from other libraries and laptops (see above).
Please check at the front desk if you want to renew a book borrowed from another library.
Holds
If material you want to use is already checked out, you may place a hold on it. You will be notified when the material is returned and it will be held for you for a short time. Holds cannot be placed on reserve materials.
Fines
There are no late fees for books and media borrowed from the regular collection in the Main Stacks for the normal period of 3 weeks. Late fees will be charged for equipment (laptops, chargers, etc.) and short-term (hourly or 1-3 day) loans.
Other Circulating Collections Including Reference, White, Reserves, Media, Periodicals
Hourly $1.00/hour or portion
Day $5.00/day or portion
Laptops and other Equpment
Day $20.00/day or portion
Replacement for Lost or Damaged
Items which are five weeks overdue or returned damaged will be charged to your account for cost of replacement. A $10.00 processing fee (non-refundable) is added to the replacement cost. If a lost item is returned intact before the library has replaced it, you may be refunded the replacement cost.
Notices of overdue material and unpaid fines may be sent as a courtesy service.
