Christian, Betty, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Betty Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on August 13, 1932. She was the daughter of Burnett Stanhope Christian and Renie Esther Young.

Christian, Betty Jean, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Betty Jean Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on November 23, 1943. She was the daughter of Sterling Gifford Christian and Selina Agnes Coffin. She married Thomas Coleman Christian, son of Frederick Martin Christian and Flora Clarice Christian, on Pitcairn Island. Betty Jean Christian was adopted by Warren Clive Christian and Selina Agnes Coffin. In October 1983 she is pictured on Page 516 of Howard: Pitcairn and Norfolk, National Geographic, October 1983. She is an experienced radio operator, and served for a number of years as Pitcairn Island Secretary. In 2008 she was living on Pitcairn Island. The children of Betty and Thomas Coleman Christian are Jacqueline Beth Christian, who was born on January 8, 1970; Raelene Kari Christian, who was born on January 28, 1974; Sherileen Theresa Christian, who was born on December 1, 1975, and Darlene Michelle Christian, who was born on March 28, 1977.

Christian, Bradley Dean Charles Douglas. Bradley Dean Charles Douglas Christian is the son of Ron Christian, and the grandson of Carol, Steve and Olive Christian. He is the brother of Adrianna, Emily and Ryan Christian.

Christian, Brenda Vera Amelia, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Brenda Vera Amelia Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on February 25, 1953. She is the daughter of Ivan Roa Christian and Verna Carlene Deborah Young. She married Michael Randall on August 3, 1972, on Pitcairn Island, and her surname became Randall. During the Christmas season (1972), the celebrations ended with a hilarious concert at the Courthouse. Brenda, 'the curviest of the Christians,' was Britannia wrapped in the Union Jack. In 1970-71, she attended two years of off-island education in Dunedin, New Zealand. The child of Brenda and Mike Lupton is Michelle Lupton. The children of Brenda and Michael Randall are Michael Randall, Kristy Randall, and Andrew Michael Basil Randall, born October 8, 1985.

Christian, Burnett Stanhope, Snell; thePeerage.com. Burnett Stanhope Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on June 8, 1897. He was the son of Gerard Bromley Robert Christian and Helena Amelia Jane Christian. Burnett first married Rita Stella McCoy. They had one child, Susan Lorena Christian, who was born on Pitcairn Island on December 8, 1926, and who died on January 2, 1993. Burnett then married Renie Esther Young, whose parents were Walter Fisher Percival Young and Rita Stella McCoy. The children of Burnett Stanhope Christian and Renie Esther Young were James Marston Christian, Celia Bernadine Christian and Betty Christian.

Christian, Cairn Melvin, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Cairn Melvin Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on December 13, 1917. He was the son of Thornton Gilbert Christian and Marian Edith Young. Cairn was chairman of the Pitcairn Internal Committee in 1972.

Christian, Carol Grace, Lareau; thePeerage.com Carol Grace Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on April 3, 1950. She is the daughter of Charles James Bert Christian and Charlotta Zita Warren. She married Jay Calvin Warren, son of Jacob Ralph Warren and Mavis Mary Brown, on May 20, 1976, on Pitcairn Island, and her married name became Warren. As of 2008, she has lived on Pitcairn Island throughout her life. The children of Carol and unknown (?) are Ronald James Darrin Christian, born on November 12, 1969; and Dean Hugh Warren-Christian, born May 4, 1971. The children of Carol and Jay Calvin Warren are Darralyn Sally Charlotte Warren, born December 12, 1976, and Charlene Evelyn Dolly Warren, born June 9, 1979.

Caroline Agatha Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on August 28, 1886. She was the daughter of Francis Hickson Christian and Eunice Jane Lawrence Young. She married Louis Johnstone, son of William Johnstone and Maria Guilloux, on August 28, 1905, at Rikitea, Mangareva, Gambier Islands. The children of Caroline and Louis Johnstone were Julianna Marianna Johnstone, born on Mangareva on January 18, 1906; and Maria Johnston, born on Pitcairn Island on January 18, 1907. Louis Johnstone died as the result of drowning on Pitcairn Island on March 4, 1910. Caroline married Raymond Virgil Christian, son of Matthew Edmund McCoy and Margaret Lucy Young, on Pitcairn Island. The child of Caroline and Raymond Christian was Florence Christian who was born on September 18, 1922; and died September 19, 1922.

Christian, Catherine, Snell. Catherine Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on November 3, 1839. She was the daughter of Charles Christian and Charlotte Quintal. On October 3, 1858, she married George Francis Mason Evans. Their children were James Richard Kaiser Evans, born August 30, 1859, and died January 17, 1874; George Rowland St.Clair Evans; Alice Clara Evans; Laura Agnes Evalina Evans, Andrew Evans, Emily Gertrude Evans, born May 24, 1867, and died February 24, 1872. Catherine Evans died September 3, 1894, on Norfolk Island. Her nick-name was "Kitty."

Christian, Cedillia Lovette L., thePeerage.com. Cedilia Lovette L. Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on October 18, 1928. She was the daughter of Melville Elbert Christian and Ninette Irene Young. Her death was caused by tuberculosis, and she died on Pitcairn Island on September 15, 1944.

In 1950, in New Zealand, she married Robert Roland Smith, a Canadian. Their children were Pauline Esther Smith, Lyman Douglas Smith, Paul Robert Smith, and Helen Renie Smith. Celia Bernadine Christian died in New Zealand in September, 2000.

He died Jan. 4, 1842. Their children were: Sarah Christian, born 1810, died Dec 5, 1899; Edward Christian, born 1814, died Jun. 3, 1831; Maria Christian, born 1815, died Jan. 12, 1899; Charles Christian, born 1818, died May 22, 1886; Mary Christian, born 1819, died Apr. 25, 1843; Margaret Christian, born Feb. 22, 1822, died Nov. 30, 1874; and Isaac Christian, born Apr. 26, 1825, died Oct. 31, 1877. His nick-name was sometimes spelled "Hoppa."

He married Maria Christian, daughter of Charles Christian and Sarah, on October 18, 1829, on Pitcairn Island. He died on June 25, 1831, at the age of 23 in Tahiti. Charles also went by the nick-name of 'Big Charlie.' The children of Charles and Maria Christian were Rebecca Christian, born April 7, 1830, and died March 2, 1871; and Charles Driver Christian, born August 7, 1831, and died October 22, 1906.

Charles Christian held the office of Chief Magistrate of Pitcairn Island in 1847. He was in charge of the singing on Pitcairn during the 1850s. He married Norah Leonora Nobbs, daughter of James Wingate Johnstone Nobbs and Isabella Emily Christian, on August 29, 1877, on Norfolk Island. He died on October 9, 1910, at age 55, on Norfolk Island. The children of Charles and Norah Leonora Nobbs were Emily Adeline Christian, Charles Garton Christian, Clara Henrietta Christian, Andrew Johnstone Nash Christian, Frank Bell Christian, Alice Brightie Christian, Mary Norah Christian, and John Henry Allen Christian.

Christian, Charles Benjamin, Snell; thePeerage.com. Charles Benjamin Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on August 1, 1865. He was the son of Thursday October Christian and Mary Polly Young. He was buried on July 29, 1885, at Pitcairn Island. He died as the result of a severe knock on the head.

Christian, Charles Driver, thePeerage.com. Charles Driver Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on August 7, 1831. He was the son of Charles Christian and Maria Lucy Christian. He married Maria Lucy Christian, daughter of Fletcher Christian and Peggy Christian, on July 8, 1855, on Pitcairn Island. He died on October 22, 1906 at the age of 75 on Norfolk Island. In January 1853, he was injured in the explosion of the Bounty cannon. Driver Christian was the composer of several hymns, which are still sung today on Pitcairn and Norfolk islands. Christian, Charles James Bert, thePeerage.com. Charles James Bert Christian was born in San Francisco, California, U.S.A., in 1930. He is the son of James Bromley Christian and Edna Bell. He married, firstly, Charlotte Zita Warren, daughter of Alwyn Alexander Warren and Emily Myrtle Warren, on Pitcairn Island. He married, secondly, Barbara Weremeichik in 1999 in the United States of America. In October 1983, Charles is pictured with his wife in their kitchen on p. 526-7 of Howard: Pitcairn and Norfolk, National Geographic, October 1983. He lived in 1993 on Pitcairn Island. The children of Charles and Charlotte Zita Warren are Eugene Earl Christian, born March 24, 1945, and died in 1945; and Carol Grace Christian, born April 3, 1950.

Christian, Charles R. Parkin, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Charles R. Parkin Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on November 27, 1883. He was the son of Francis Hickson Christian and Eunice Jane Lawrence Young. He married Rosalind Eliza Butler, daughter of Peter John Butler and Alice Sophia McCoy, on Pitcairn Island. He died on September 15, 1971, at the age of 87, in New Zealand. Charles held the office of Chief Magistrate of Pitcairn Island in 1920, 1922, 1925, 1933-1934, 1942, 1944, 1949, 1955-1957. He was dark-skinned, a tall, hard, lean figure . . very distinguished, masterful, and slow-speaking, with a humorous twinkle that lighted up his face in a way so reminiscent of the Tahitians. (Shapiro: The Heritage of the Bounty). Parkin was an official delegate to the quadrennial World Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in the United States in the 1950s. During this trip he visited scores of Adventist churches, captivating large crowds with his booming, deep voice, and masterful South Seas story-telling. At a news conference on his arrival by air from Panama in New York City, a newsman asked him what he thought of the big city. "How should I know," countered Parking, "I just arrived from Panama!" His good sense answers, often laced with humor, quickly made him a press favorite during his U.S. visit. Christian, Cora Adeline, Australasian Record 58, April 12, 1954, p. 7. "WARREN and CHRISTIAN -- It was unusual that within a week the deaths took place of two representatives of our Pitcairn Island community in Wellington, New Zealand. On February 10, Leon Herman Warren, eighteen years of age, passed away, and on February 12, Mrs. Cora Adeline Christian, aged sixty-four. To the sorrowing relatives words of comfort were spoken, and one and all were called to a heart preparation while time lingers. Pastor L. D. Vince assisted in the services. - D. A. Ferris."

She married Edward Quintal, son of Arthur Quintal and Martha Quintal, on January 8, 1865, on Norfolk Island. She died on November 26, 1868, at age 20 on Norfolk Island. Cordelia Ruth Christian also went by the nick-name of Connie. From January 8, 1865, her married name became Quintal.

Christian, Dennis Ray, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Dennis Ray Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on April 2, 1955. He was the son of Benjamin Norman Christian and Irma Doreen Warren. Dennis was in 2008 the postmaster of Pitcairn Island.

Christian, Desmond Earl, thePeerage.com. Desmond Earl Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on December 18, 1937. He is the son of Wallace Maynard Warren and Maria Johnston. He married Pearl Matilda Warren, daughter of Anderson Gilbert Warren and Royal Louise Brown on Pitcairn Island. He married Ailsa Violet Ruby Young, daughter of Wilkson Carlson Young and Marjorie Estelle Christian, on Pitcairn Island. After the death of his mother, Desmond was adopted by his grandparents, Virgil and Caroline Agathe Christian, and given her name. The children of Desmond and Ailsa Violet Ruby Young are Laurie Don Louis Young, who was born on August 4, 1957; and Suzanne Joy Young, who was born on March 26, 1959. The children of Desmond and Pearl Matilda Warren are Mark Raymond Christian, who was born on September 24, 1965; Jan Diane Christian, who was born on December 27, 1967; Shelly Leigh Christian, who was born on June 28, 1971; Sharon Rose Christian, who was born on June 17, 1974; and Sheree Joy Christian, who was born on February 4, 1977. Desmond died in Wellington (N.Z.) Hospital on March 18, 2014. His funeral service was at the Seventh-day Adventist church in Porirua.

Christian, Verna Carlean Deborah (Young). Verna Carlean Deborah (Young) Christian, known as "Dobrey," is the daughter of Andrew Young, the widow of Ivan Roa Christian, and the mother of Steve and Brenda Christian.

She was the daughter of Alphonso Driver Christian and Sarah McCoy. She married Edgar Allen Christian, son of Daniel Christian and Harriet Melissa McCoy, on Pitcairn Island. The children of Edward and Margaret Lucy Young were Edwin Albert Christian, born January 13, 1890; and Marian Elmira Christian, who was born on May 13, 1891, and died June 25, 1984. The child of Edward and Mercy Dora Young was Edison Percival Young, born June 4, 1902.

Christian, Elias, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Elias Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on January 7, 1845. He was the son of Thursday October Christian and Mary Young. He married Mary Elizabeth Young, daughter of Moses Young and Albina McCoy, on December 25, 1864, on Pitcairn Island. He died on October 7, 1893, at age 48, on Pitcairn Island, from typhus. Elias also went by the nick-name of Tobby. In 1864 he was among the second wave of returnees to Pitcairn from Norfolk Island. Christian, Ernest Heywood, Snell; Lareau; thePeerage.com. Ernest Heywood Christian was born on Pitcairn Island on October 5, 1853. He was the son of Thursday October Christian and Mary Polly Young. He was buried on December 14, 1926, on Pitcairn Island. Ernest was among the second wave of returnees to Pitcairn from Norfolk Island in 1864. At the age of 73, he accidently fell from a visiting ship into a longboat, and died soon after from his injuries. Australasian Record 31, Feb. 28, 1927, p. 7: "Christian - Died on Pitcairn Island December 14, 1926, Haywood Christian, aged seventy-two years. Brother Haywood was a man of long Christian experience. He was always at the prayer meeting, and his prayer and testimony were always encouraging. Coming down the ladder from the S.S. Rotorua, he fell, striking the gunwale of the boat several feet below. He was rescued from the water by those in the boat and taken home, but died within two hours. Brother Haywood was one of the oldest residents on the island, having been born there in 1854. His faith in God was strong and clear. He was laid to rest in the little cemetery down among the palm groves, where the orange trees blossom, and the wild waves lend their ceaseless music. We look forward to a glad and glorious resurrection when the Redeemer comes. The glow of noontide or the shaded gloaming, Can never waken now, the day is done; Sleep on, brave heart, sleep on in quiet, waiting The rising of an everlasting sun! - R. Hare."

The following afternoon she was brought into the church for the last time. The service was conducted by Pastor Farris and Brother Bert Christian. In speaking of Fannie's work for the church, Brother Bert paid tribute to her faithfulness in attendance, her work with the young people, and her playing the organ. After the church service the congregation followed the pall-bearers carrying the casket to the graveyard where the service was led by Pastor Ferris and Brother Fred Christian."

Christian, Fletcher, Lareau; thePeerage.com. Fletcher Christian was born on September 25, 1764, in Moorland Close, Brigham, Cumberland, England. He died at the age of 28 on October 3, 1793 on Pitcairn Island supposedly murdered by four Tahitian natives who had accompanied the mutineers to Pitcairn Island. He was also reported to have died on October 3, 1793, on Pitcairn Island. The son of Charles Christian and Ann Dixon, Fletcher married Maimiti on June 16, 1789, at Tahiti. He was educated in 1773 at Cockermouth Grammar School, Cockermouth, Cumbria, England. He gained the rank of Master's Mate in 1787 in the service of the Royal Navy, on board HMS Bounty. On October 28, 1788, he led the infamous mutiny, taking over the Bounty, and sailing it back to Tahiti, and then on to Pitcairn Island. He was named for his great-grandfather, Jacob Fletcher, a member of the Fletchers of Cockermouth Hall. He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography. The children of Fletcher and Maimiti were Thursday October Christian, born October 7, 1790, and died April 21, 1831; Charles Christian, born about 1792, and died January 4, 1842; Charles Christian, born in 1793, and died January 4, 1842; Mary Ann Christian, born in 1793, and died January 2, 1866.

Christian, Fletcher, Lareau, was born in 1812 on Pitcairn Island. He was advisor to the Pitcairn Magistrate in 1836, and was Magistrate in 1842. Fletcher married on Jan. 17, 1833, to Peggy Christian who was born on Pitcairn in 1815. Fletcher was the son of Charles Christian, born about 1792 on Pitcairn, and Sarah who was born in March 1789 in Tahiti. Their children, all born on Pitcairn, included: Jacob Christian, born Sep. 24, 1833, and died October 16, 1877; Priscilla Christian, born Aug. 11, 1835, and died November 21, 1906; Polly Christian, born Nov. 10, 1836, and died April 30, 1892; Maria Lucy Christian, born Jun.13, 1838, and died October 13, 1904; Isabella Emily Christian, born Dec. 13, 1839, and died February 10, 1895; Stephen Christian, born Sep. 9, 1841, and died December 10, 1842; John Stephen Christian, born Oct 5, 1843, and died May 16, 1918; Nathan Christian, born Jun. 25, 1845, and died October 28, 1860; William B. Frederick Martin Christian was born on Pitcairn Island in 1883. He was the son of Daniel Christian and Harriet Melissa McCoy. He married Flora Clarice Warren, daughter of Thursday Moses Skelly Warren and Augusta Ruth Lena Christian on Pitcairn Island. He died on December 17, 1971, on Pitcairn Island. Frederick Martin Christian held the office of Chief Magistrate of Pitcairn Island in 1921, 1941, and 1943. He was a titan of a man with a voice that seemed to well up from the bottom of his 6'6" frame. He was well known as a preacher in the church, with his vibrant cello-toned voice. He was an assistant elder on Pitcairn in 1934, and was a Pitcairn councilor in 1956. In 1964, he was the oldest man on Pitcairn.
